close my mom's estate

Am firing my lawyers. Hopefully July will see some progress.

Didn’t make much progress on this. I never heard back from the lawyers about next steps, and at the same time they billed me (or the retainer anyway) for nearly $3000. I am not pleased.

I sold my mom’s house, so that generated money for the estate to pay off the other debts. Hopefully we can get down to the remaining issues now:

• pay off probate-listed debts
• document expenses
• file her personal taxes
• file fiduciary taxes
• document that the foundation is closed
• possibly file/pay foundation taxes?

My main progress around this was trying to sell the house. The estate should close in May/June I think. Meanwhile, both houses are in foreclosure. I just pray this all goes through fast to prevent foreclosure.

The decision to sell the house, and working with a buyer, has moved this closer to reality. There probably won’t be much closure news until March, but in the meantime working on selling will get it closer to completion.
