And now I wanna meet him again!
How to meet Alton Brown
How I did it: Tuesday, October 13th, 2009.
I took a comp day from work (on
what ended up being an extremely busy day) in order to make the trek
& made a day of it. He left right around 11am, me chauffering my
parents from northwestern Massachusetts to Brookline, a Boston suburb.
Though we went just a touch farther to Dorchester & stopped at the
Olive Garden there for lunch. Mom & I got the Mezzaluna plate with
chicken & dad got the Pork Milanese. All of which was excellent.
Back in the car for more driving around Boston, which wasn't bad, but
I'm glad I don't have to do very often. We got back into Brookline just
slightly after 4pm & found the parking lot. There, we played
musical parking spots as the first one had a meter that ate my quarter,
the second meter, though not expired gave no time readout, but third
time was a charm & fed that meter to just under 2 hours.
We
found the theater first right away. There was already a short stand-by
line formed at the door. So, with time to kill, we headed over to the
book store & wandered around there. Since I already had AB's book
(& all his others) I bought a mathematics book just for kicks. What
can I say? I'm a nerd. ;) Right inside the door, they had a huge
(cardboard) stand-up of the book cover. I'd wanted to get a picture,
but only had my cell phone at the time & people kept stopping at it
& blocking it, so I gave up.
Having been told seating
would begin at about 5:30pm, we left the book store at 5:15 &
headed back to the theatre where, after going ALL the way around the
block, realized that the ticket holders line was ALSO reaching into our
parking lot. *face palm* The standby line was just as long. We weren't
in line 5 minutes before we had atleast another 20 or so people behind
us. It was amazing watching the people gather, especially in the
standby line!

AB’s coming to Brookline, MA on October 13, 6PM at the Coolidge Theatre via Brookline Booksmith. The event isn’t on the book store’s site yet, but it is on the publisher’s site: http://www.abramsbooks.com/author_events.html
Just gotta get the day off & I’m good to go. :D
Updates as they become available…
I’m hoping to get the above image signed (it’s a mini poster I bought online). ;)
Considering AB has a new book coming out in October & I’ve heard there’s a good chance of an “extensive East coast” book signing tour, I may just get my opportunity! Most everyone who’s met him has had nothing but good things to say (so I’m not sure what happened with the very few that think otherwise…)

I would love to meet him, have him cook me a great meal and then I can cook him up something else (wink, wink)! He’s gorgeous and hysterical. just my type of guy!
i have been watching “good eats” for awhile now and i think Alton is just so cute and amazing. i would give anything to meet him in real life, i have heard so much about him. that he is nice, sweet, smart. and he teaches alot of amazing things on his show. i have always wanted to be a chef and i hope someday my dreams will come true and when and if they do i will look up to Alton because he is the best.
I used to consider Alton an incredible man..but I would rather not look up to someone like him anymore.
I decided to go with my other favorite AB..Anthony Bourdain.
He was AMAZING! He was so nice, charming, funny, and tan (he just got back from filming Feasting On Waves). He did a great Q & A session and then signed his Feasting On Asphalt second season book, which you needed to have to get on stage with him. He handled my gushing over him really well.
Tonight I’m going to a book signing! I’ve read that he’s super nice but I’m still so nervous that I’ll look like a total moron…
Alton Brown is a smart, sexy hunk! He is everything a man should be. He has a million dollar personality, combined with pricesless knowledge. He can take the mystery out of cooking, teach you countless things, and make you laugh.

My wife, son, and I saw Alton Brown at a bookstore book-signing event. He talked for an hour or so, answered questions from the audience, and posed for pictures with anyone who wanted them. Throughout the whole process he was funny, warm, engaging, and personable.
