that time of year yet again 23 months ago

Just lodged my tax return for the past year, getting a pretty sweet refund that will be put towards my birthday present. In fact the reason I lodged it a bit earlier than last year was just so I could get the return in time for my birthday, haha. I think I have to keep my financial records and everything a bit more in order, it’s not very much fun (or it is, and it’s very distracting) to go through a big box of birthday & christmas cards, receipts, bank statements from three different accounts, letters, university communications, etc. So, that should be a new goal I think, keeping all my financial records in order.

    so uneasy 2 years ago

It’s always difficult to make myself to do it! but I have to…

    Nearly there 2 years ago

I got my PIN in the post today so went back to the HMRC web site and have filled in as much as I could of my tax return. I’ve asked my accountant to check it over. When she’s done that I can submit it. It was much less painful than I thought it would be!

    Red Tape 2 years ago

So, I gave myself a kick in the backside to go and file in my tax return online. I got the paperwork I needed out of its folder, went to the HM Revenue & Customs website, went through the registration process and got this final message (emphasis theirs):

Within the next seven days you should receive by post from the Government Gateway:

    • A confirmation of your User ID
    • Your Activation PIN (for each service you have selected)

Argh!!!! So now I have to wait another week before I can connect again and do my tax return. I’ll have to give myself a kick in the backside again then.

    Paperwork 2 years ago

I’ve got the paperwork. I can do it online (and I’d rather do it online) but I’ve never done it so I keep pushing it back. Now this weekend was supposed to be a quiet weekend and I was supposed to do it but I haven’t started yet…

Someone please give me a kick in the backside and get me started!

    done! 2 years ago

Finally got around to lodging in my tax return, after weeks of putting it off. I won’t really get much back as I only started working two months before the end of the financial year, but something’s better than nothing, eh?!

This was my first time putting in a tax return, as I’d never even earned enough to do so! So hooray for moving on up in the world…or something.

    Done it!! 2 years ago

Just completed my tax return online. Once I got all my paperwork together and sat down to do it, it didn’t take long at all. Must remember to keep all my paperwork together this year ready for next years return!

I was able to e-file my federal and state taxes over the weekend. Had to shell out 50 bucks, but I’m getting a refund for the first time in five years!!!
