i won a $50 gift card to a music store, so i think that’s god telling me to dust off the old thing and get going.
How to play guitar again

"I just wanted to enjoy playing guitar again for the sake of playing, not for anyone or anything else."
How I did it: Started listening to the music that inspired me to play way back in high school, the more you listen, the more you want to play it.
Lessons & tips: You can't force yourself to play, you have to be inspired to play. But it really does help just to pick up the guitar and feel it in your hands, or playing notes and just taking in the sound of it.

I was going to give both my guitars to friends while I’m out of the country, but I picked them up, began strumming and even recorded a few songs (almost two goals gone in one!) and now I’m going to have to buy a new guitar first thing I do when I’m in Japan.
I’m also getting better at writing lyrics.

i sold my first guitar about three years ago. I REGRET it so much. I didn’t even make that much money off of it. Oh. Sometimes I do stupid things.

I got my guitar out to tune it up. Guess what? It had been sitting for so long the strings started breaking. I decided to take action. I took all the strings off and thorougly cleaned and polished the wood until she shone! I plan on taking the guitar in to have her checked and adjusted (years of pull on the neck can cause some bowing, I’m told). I’ll let the experts restring it for me since there are 12 of those puppies. THEN, perhaps I’ll get to try my hand and see how much I have forgotten. She sure looks pretty now… :-)

Today I got my guitar out of the case, dusted it off and put in on the stand in the living room so I could see it. Next step, take it down and tune it…

Back to my high school days...

I have a wonderful Epiphone 12-string guitar. In high school (more years ago than I care to tell), I played and wrote songs. It was almost like therapy for me. Now I can barely play the chords and I have forgotten most of the songs. I cannot find the sheet music for most of what I used to play so I will have to start anew.
This is one of the things I would LOVE to renew in my life. Just for me—no public performances. My kitties like to hear me sing, too!
