i studied latin in hs for two years and i have nothing to show for it, really. it’s a shame that i didn’t take it seriously way back then. i’m hoping it will help me to learn spanish, french and italian more efficiently.

I studied the language – went to 120 classes with a superior teacher, and I learned latin.
Definitely worth doing and very useful in more than one way!
Just ask :)
I just about want to scratch my fingernails down a blackboard when I hear somebody say to me ”...but, but, didn’t you know that Latin is a dead language?”. Sorry to all those who believe this, but Latin is NOT a dead language. It is very much alive and kicking. I am currently studying Latin and, frankly, I can’t get enough of it. Open your mind to it – it’s the greatest language in the history of Europe and it makes English look degenerate.

I was forced into it… unless you want to study texts in Latin I honestly don’t see a point. No one speaks the language and I personally found it to be rather difficult.
Very worth it. Has anyone noticed that the sentence structure in Latin is similar to the way Yoda speaks?
(These are the kinds of things you notice when watching too much TV…)
I believe that Latin should be mandatory in all high schools. It is not so “dead” a language as people say.
Everyone says Latin is a dead language, but once you begin studying it, you see it’s around you everyday. It’s worth doing, especially if you love language and etiology.
I took Latin back in high school for 2 years and did very well. I had an awesome teacher. I was even in Latin club, but didn’t do as much as I should have. I hope to one day get back into Latin in college. It was one of my favorite classes.
Latin is complicated, and I don’t know as much as I wish I did, but it’s pretty amazing. I love it, and it helps you with the other main languages like English and Spanish. Definitely worth doing! ^^
