I have started my own collection. People can see it on www.artacadabra.com (my username is yrogerg) . It is a lot of fun.

i started my collection and while it is by no means close to finished, i consider this goal achieved since collecting beautiful things has now become very much a part of me.

My first painting :) 22 months ago

I have started my collection :) I recently was given an abstract piece by a good friend of mine after helping him at one of his art shows. Was VERY generous of him! I really love the piece to and am a huge fan of his work…not sure if I can call this goal achieved or not since it is an ongoing lifelong goal…

This is one of the more difficult goals in my life just because of the financial limitations of my current situation. However, my plan is to start my collection with comic art, which tends to be a bit more affordable. I bought my first piece this year, which was a page from an Anders Nilsen comic. I still haven’t gotten it framed, but I am on my way to achieving this goal.

I believe that owning and collecting fine art can be a great source of joy and inspiration. As an art dealer, I can work with you to learn about your tastes, then seek out work you will enjoy within your price range, suggest new artists, look for works by hard to find artists and even help you resell works that, for whatever reason, you are interested in parting with. Additionally, I regularly post currently available works to the “inventory” section of my website and also have access to many works – through galleries, individuals, other dealers and direct from artists’ studios – that are not posted on my site. I would love to work with anyone interested in collecting art to help them learn about the artist, the artwork and finally to build their own inspiring collection of artwork. I currently work very heavily in the realm of what is being called simply “The Movement”. It is a new movement in art which finds it’s roots in a mix of Pop Art and Surrealism. This movement is taking off and contains a lot of exciting and talented artists. Please visit my website to view just a few of these wonderful artists. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have along the way. Take care and be well always.

I have like fallen in love with Maplethorpe and Dali’s art, I think someday it’d be cool to collect them.

Buy What You Love ... 2 years ago

I bought my first painting when I was 21. I believe people have physiological responses to art. And you have to listen to that. When I saw it, my heart started beating, and everyday after that, I began to worry someone else had bought it. So I went into the gallery, and they were very helpful—letting me pay for it in three layaway payments. I still have the painting (as well as many more). I don’t have much money but, what I do have, I spend on art. It moves me everyday. And I don’t think enough people understand its importance.

Here is my website if anyone is interested:

I’m an art historian now and even have a couple I might sell…

I started collecting as a child... 3 years ago

and I haven’t stopped. Even though I’m an artist myself, my greatest pleasure comes from collecting the work of others. Whether you begin by collecting a small print at a local yard sale or a Andy Warhol at an auction, you’ll always be happy when you have art on your walls. Check out eBay, there’s lots of good art there by self-representing artists who need your assistance to buy their next canvas, paint and brushes. Keep this in mind: when Van Gogh was alive he only sold on painting and that was to his brother for $1.
