Valentina received her visa. She will be flying to Los Angeles on October 14th and I will meet her there and accompany her on the last leg to Boise the evening of the 14th.
I am very excited to see her this Saturday. In some ways it feels like I have been waiting all this time for my life to begin.

I feel confident that all will be good in the interview. It will be short and painless for Valentina and She will call me quickly with the good news.
At the same time I am feeling a building anxiousness about the interview. I think it is normal excitement and maybe a little worry, and I am having trouble staying in the moment!

It’s required in this finance visa process for her to get a very extensive examination. The results are then sealed and given to the US officials at the US Embassy when she goes for her interview next week (the 21st). They X-rayed for TB, tested for HIV and Syphlis, among other stuff. She said she is now ready to go on a mission as a cosmonaut to the moon. All tests went well and she has been given a clean bill of health. So the next step is the interview next week.

Valentina’s interview will be on September 21st, that means she will be issued a visa within a couple of days after that, that means I can have her here in Boise by the 26th of September at the very latest! It is such a relief to have an actual date to plan around, up until now I feel like I have been in an endless limbo.

We are now waiting to hear about an interview date. This could happen as late as September. A week and a half ago Valentina’s daughter Ksenya went to the embassy for her interview for a student visa. Ksenya had been admitted to Boise State University. We figured since she had already turned 21 she would not be allowed to travel as a dependant so we wanted to get her here for at least a year. In the US embassy in Moscow the policy is that they assume you are trying to emmigrate to the US. So given her relationship to me and her mom’s impending fiance visa they refused her student visa. This was extreamly dissapointing for all of us although it may ultimately be the best thing to happen all around. Ksenya needs to have her own life not regulated by her mother and Valentina and I need time to build our life together. Now having said that, it makes me no less angry at our government for it’s attitude towards legal immigration. They can’t track the thousands of illegal immigrants that come to the US everyday, so they focus thier attention on the easy stuff. This system has now prevented one highly intelligent hard working Russian student from entering our country legally.

So we are both very excited. It looks like the interview with immigration in Moscow could be as late as September. At this moment I am just happy that we have approval!

Who knew that the woman that is my other half would live 5000 miles away on the other side of the earth? She always knows the right thing to say to me when I am upset and I always know the right thing to say to her when she is upset. We are partners. We will be together soon.
