AbigailWish I had really gone for this earlier...

I think I had accomplished this goal more than once while it was on my list; I just never tested it out. It always seemed too time-consuming.

At this point, I don’t think I’ll be accomplishing it any time soon, since I’ve cancelled my YMCA membership. I hadn’t been in a month or so, and I just wasn’t making time to do it anymore. On top of my planning to go back to work soon, when I really wouldn’t have time for it, it didn’t bode well for keeping it on the “necessary expenses” list. So I booted it, and cancelled, and no there’s no pool for me to swim the 50 in. I probably could have marked this done, too! I just never tried it! Argh! 4 years ago

Before yesterday, I hadn’t been swimming in at least two weeks. But I must have been doing something right in the interim because I finished half a mile in 22-23 minutes. That’s MUCH better than the 28-30 it used to take me. Woo-hoo! Must be all that yoga. 4 years ago

Now that I’m swimming regularly again, I’m back up to easily completing half a mile in about 25 minutes. I will reach this goal by extending my swimming sessions to an hour and try to fit in a full mile. A mile is 36 laps, and so in about an hour and a half, I could swim that 50. I’ll reach this goal before July. 4 years ago

Two weeks ago Wednesday I swam a mile (36 laps) in just about exactly an hour. I swam M, W, and Sat that week. Last week I swam 30 laps on Monday, a mile again (in a slightly shorter time) on Wednesday, and 24 laps plus some water aerobics for about an hour on Sunday. This week I plan to swim M, Th, and hopefully Sun. I’m getting there! 5 years ago

I have been swimming once a week without fail. I’d like to go 3 times a week. I will work hard to make time for this – it’s not that I don’t HAVE time, it’s just hard to give up time I could be doing other stuff with. 5 years ago

AbigailOctober 4

Last night, I swam 60 (30 laps) lengths. 72 lengths (36 laps) is a mile. I feel like I could easily have done the mile in about an hour. Good news. 5 years ago

AbigailSeptember 29

A while ago I could do 20 or 24 lengths without stopping. I quit swimming for about six weeks, and right now, I can probably do about 4 lengths. I’d like to be able to swim a mile, and in the Ann Arbor YMCA pool, that’s 36 laps. I know it’ll take me a while to get to this goal, and I plan to post frequent updates on my progress. 5 years ago
