improve art skills

I’m happy with what I have achieved up to now, but I know I still have a lot to learn and so much more methods and mediums to explore. The only limiting factors are time and money ;)

I’ve got two paintings that have been lying around unfinished now for at least 3 months. Really sad actually.

I have however spent some quality time learning a wee bit of flash to create digital invites for my wedding. I installed the trial of Macromedia Flash 8 – 30 days later, my trial has expired, but my invites are out :)

It was great fun to make this. I’m sure there are a lot of flash tricks still to be learned, but at least my invite is functional ;)

Not exactly fine arts, but it was stimulating.

After a short break, I’ve started with my classes again. I’ve definitely become more confident in my art, so that’s a definite plus point.

I had been in a less than optimal mood during my last class and kind of messed up my painting, but I’m sure I can fix it tomorrow.

I really feel that I’ve started getting the hang of things. I’ve caught myself visualizing how I’m going to paint things and picturing things. It’s BRILLIANT! Hopefully not only my technique will improve, but also my content and sources of inspiration. i.e. no longer needing a stock picture to work from would be my next goal.

I’ve been writing some exams and working late on a big project at work, so I’ve been neglecting my art classes once again. Now that my exams are finished I have untill next year February to do WHATEVER I want after work :)

Hopefully some other goals will get some more attention as well.

I’ve started taking some informal classes on Thursday evenings. Attended one last week, but I had forgotten that it was Thursday this week and missed the class. Let me explain: Forgotten what day it was because I’m on study leave (writing exam on Saturday morning). When I’m not at work I don’t always keep track of time ;)

I’ll be attending the class again the next Thursday that comes along… will set up a reminder on my phone ;)

Not being confident in the process distracts focus from the thoughts or intention of the subject…

How am I supposed to focus on emotions and meanings if I’m not evening sure which way to hold my pencil/brush? ;p
