Maybe when I try it out, I can do jumps in the tube! That would so rock!!! Jumping waves would be fun. And I agree with the last entry written here, a speedboat is probably one of the best things to use to move you. :)
How to go water tubing
How I did it: This is one of my goals to challenge myself with nature. My officemates said that rafting is way too safe, the team wanted a more challenging trip then we decided to try “Pinoy Tubing”, it’s a new version for rafting, “Only in the Philippines” they say. Instead of using a raft or a rubber boat, we are using tubes; we call it “salbabida” in Filipino. A group of three plus one for the guide, an expert on the craft, tied together. The operation manager, Sir Jerome, oriented us how to manage ourselves when we flipped over and slipped away from the tube. I didn’t expect that during the first rapid, the group smashed down. I fell away from the group, the time stopped like I forgot the whole thing that I’m on water tubing, I could only see the water and bubbles like I’m inside the washing machine. I just remember what Sir Jerome said, relax and push your chest towards the face of the river and tadaaa! I am alive!!!! I found myself floating and I hear a voice saying, “hold your life vest ma’am”, I’ll pull you out. Wow! That was a real thing. I saw one of my teammates joining the other group. It’s so funny, after that first rapid, we exchanged groups, the guide laugh at us. The guides managed us all to put us back to our tube. The guide said that out of 21 rapids, that was the second one!!! OMG!! On the next rapid, it feels like war against the current. Along the river, there are small caves to pop in. There are parts that don’t have rapids, all you have to do is to lean back and enjoy the nice palm tress and exotic orchid covering the green and clear river. And the last part, “the graduation jump”. A 20 feet jump from the bridge, you should try that jump, it feels like thousand of butterflies on your stomach. Go rapids go!!!!
Lessons & tips:
- Wear a suit to protect your legs and your arms, your legs will scratch a several times against the tube.
- Put a thick sun block all over your body before you put the suit on.
