Meet Ben Folds

this would be fantastic!

I would give anything to meet him! He rocks!

I got to shake his hand in an autograph line at Bonnaroo 2006. He sighed my copy of “The Unauthorized Biography of Reinhold Messner” (my favorite Ben album) and I meekly told him “i love you Ben”. And I got this picture out of it.

First of all.. let me tell you I am old. I didn’t feel old until I went to see Ben at Va Tech two weeks ago and then again in Harrisonburg @ JMU this past Tuesday night.

My friend and I hung around out back (mainly thanks to the many others who posted here that that was the best way to meet him) and as you all have said, he came out and about an hour and half to two hours after the show and though obviously tired and ready to get on his bus, he was very patient and signed autographs and took pictures and took a moment to chat with everyone. I was lucky to be one of the first to talk to him when he came out and got my picture taken but forgot to ask him to sign my “set list” that I keep when I go to shows. So I hung back until most everyone had cleared and then quickly asked if he would mind signing it for me and told him it was his setlist and then said something stupid like “because I am a freak like that” or something. (one of those slap your forehead moments and utter a gutteral Ugh!) He said “No worries” and signed it.

My advice is if you do hang around to see him, think about the one question you would ask him and be ready to greet him, thank him and take your picture and move along. He seems to not want to blow anyone off – but his handler was there and voiced concerns about his voice and the cold weather. He has to worry about things like that.

Again – If it is possible for you to get to a show, it is probable you will have a chance to meet him. And it is DEFINATELY WORTH EVERY SECOND.

ran into him at the hotel.

I’ve met and chatted with Ben Folds several times back in the Ben Folds Five days. My friend and I drove all over the place to see them, and we always waited around after the shows to say hi. He always stayed chatting until each and every fan had as many photos/autographs as they wanted. He always seemed genuinely happy to be there meeting everyone.

we went to his concert on state street in madison, and i swear we waited like 3 hours by his bus for him to come out. i promised some friends at home i’d get autographs, so i got the security guy to sign my book. he was standing my his piano… we got to look inside the case, and i soooo played marry had a little lamb on his pianooooo! it rocked, after the 4th hour passed my brother and his girlfriend wanted to leave, so we did. it was cold, but i bet we could’ve waited longer… idk 4 hours seems like a long time though. maybe he slept over in the dressing room or something.
that was the same day when the concert started at 8:00 and we came at 12:00 and were the first ones in line. it was really fun because we took turns standing in line and walking around state street. we had my brother’s speakers and we were blaring all the ben folds cds that we brought. it was so much fun. then later on we were just wandering around and found in a parking ramp there was an ally, and down the ally there was a big storage type room where ben folds was practicing! we were kinda far away, but we got a little privite show! after they were done practicing the guitarist came out and we talked to him a little bit. then we took pictures and left. we should’ve asked for autographs then, but we had nothing with us and there was a big drop from where we were. it would’ve been impossible to get the autographs back after we had given it to them!
also we were on state street and saw him! we talked to him for a little while but then he had to go. it was really fun, but after we had walked a few blocks we noticed that we ALL had our cameras and autograph pages with us, but we were all so amazed and really dumb and didn’t take any pictures or get any autographs! it was really fun though. i had the time of my life.

He’s a very cool guy!!

I FINALLY MET HIM WED NIGHT AFTER HIS CONCERT!! Wow! He is AMAZING… so so amazing! We waited at his tour bus and he signed our shirts that we made, and he got pictures taken with us!

..what with him living in Adelaide and that. But if he comes anywhere near me I shall give it my best shot. Purge, purge, purge.
