still not sure if it was really worth it, but i hope it will be. The first time i went i didn’t have my medicaid card yet but they had me sit through the class and took some blood from my finger then they told me that i was on pending and to just come back with my medicaid card when i got it so i did. i got there around… oh i don’t know 1 ish, there are like 2 other people with a few kids there ahead of me so i think “oh good this shouldn’t take to long maybe 30 minutes or so…” well an hour passes, i am still sitting there and there are now so many people, most of the seats are taken except for the ones way in the row by the wall. i can’t even tell you how many people have been called ahead of me that came in way after me. so i’m starting to think that they have forgotten or lost my paper or something. so i get off the phone and go out of the room up to the window and ask and the girl who told me to go sit and waits says “uhh, well your name is in line for your printing (of vouchers) it should only be 20 or 30 more minutes.” i wanted to say excuse me? have i been “in line” for printing for the last hour? because if you had put me in when i got there i would have been gone 40 minutes ago… sigh… so i go back to the room and i know there aren’t going to be seats so i stand just outside of the door and wait for my name… i go in there and they hand me 3 vouchers that look basically like 3 checks. thats it she says, your done. omg now i know why so many people that are poor stay poor. they would rather be poor than to deal with that all the time and i don’t blame them. i’m glad i don’t have a job right now, i would have to take a day off from work just to go get my vouchers for some milk, cheese and eggs.

So i went and because i don’t have my medicaid card yet i have a ‘pending status’ when i get my card i have to bring it in to them or otherwise bring in a statement of my parents income since i am living with them which will mostly likely not qualify me. but qualifying for medicaid automatically qualifies me for wic which is kinda weird.
Anyways so they weighted and heighted me then they made me sit in a class where they showed us a video about how important it is to have good nutrition and a balance of lean meats and dairy and fruits and veggies blah blah that i already knew, but listened anyways. Then a lady came in and was really pushing breastfeeding, which isn’t so bad because it is really important. i mean even if you don’t want to actually do it maybe at least use a pump and get it to them that way.
anyways then i had to have this guy prick my finger and squish my finger a hundred time to fill this tiny vial with blood. for some blood tests to check iron and stuff like that.
then i would have gotten vouchers but since i was pending i don’t get them until i come back with my card.
Then is seems like i have to go and take a class everytime i get more vouchers… which i am not sure about but thats what i sounded like and you can only get up so many gallons of milk and stuff like that. so. here we go.

We called and got an appointment a few weeks ago, and it is actually for tomorrow morning at 9:30. The lady on the phone said that if i can receive medicaid that i automatically qualify for WIC. WIC stands for Women and Infant Care or something like that. it’s a food voucher program, as far as i understand (i will know better after tomorrow) so that i can buy things like milk, eggs, cheese, bread etc. Pretty much the basic nutritional stuff.
