I have been saving all of my yogurt cups for the past few weeks and I used the to plant sunflower seeds in. If you want to do this to, it is reallllly easy. Just poke a few holes in the bottom first. :)
How to recycle more and get more people to recycle
How I did it: Well, I always recycle. I actually feel guilty is I throw a bottle or can into the trash. At home, I made my roommates recycle and at work I have gotten recycling bins added to my department.
Lessons & tips: Recycling is about more than just tossing a used can into the bin. I have been saving most of my containers from stuff like sour cram and yogurt to use for my seedlings next spring. They come in quite handy.

I’m the only one at work that is actively recycling. I’ve cut my garbage volume at home about in half with very little effort. I am going to set up a recycling station at work and encourage people to use it. I’m toting home my recyclables every day anyway, I might as well take everyone else’s.
...i got a new recycle bin from my roommate. she really hates to bother with the recycling but i am so happy that we have a new bin for the kitchen. since we got it out recycling has been even with the amount of trash we have had.
It has been so long since I have had any control over the trash but I sorted out a bag or recycling from the trash bin and it felt good. I need to keep up the effort on this one because recycling makes me feel like a better person. :)
I work in a factory basically. I work the second shift and I pretty much have everyone in my department recycling their bottles and cans but the people on the day shift literally almost fill an entire garbage can with items that can be recycled every day. I especially don’t get why they can’t use the recycle bin around the corner. After weeks of “trash digging” when I get to work I decided to talk to my boss about it. I simply asked if she could ask the the day shift to recycle their stuff but when I got to work the next day I had a huge surprize waiting there for me…
The massive trash can had altogether been removed from our work area and replaced with 2 new recycling bins! And they were almost full. I win!
I have gotten more people to recycle at work lately, I just wait until they throw something in the trach and then I say “NOOOO, RECYCLE!” It auctually works, they take the item out and put it where it belongs. I lurve it.
now that i am in my own place and i have a can just for recycling i am feeling much better about myself. over half of my waste is going into recycling. i know that i can do even better than that but it is a great (re)start. now just to get more people to recycle… my best friend is moving into a new place soon and i think her house warming gift might just come in the form of her very own recycling can.
the whole time i have been living with my last roommates we never really did much recycling. i guess it was sort of a hassle because we didn’t have the room for an extra can for recycling. now that i am moving into my own place i can get back to being the recycle natzi. i cannot wait.
It is much easier to recycle when you auctually have a seprate can for things that can be recycled. I think I am going to print out lists of things that can be recycled and pass them out to my friends along with recycling bins. :)
