make my own whiskey

I’ve been researching about the fellows who “used” to be in the moonshining business. I’m realizing the my strong desire may not overcome the thought of 15 years for tax evasion. Thats right, when you moonshine, they bust you for tax evasion because of the tax you are supposed to pay on produced distilled spirits. I think I will continue to post my knowledge but I will never actually continue with the actually making of distilled liquors…............... in the USA:)

I know that anyone can produce there own beer up to so many gallons. But I want to make my own whiskey. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not planning on distributing the stuff and making money on the side like a moonshiner. I do want to be able to drink a whiskey of my own make, for my own taste. Of course it must be made with consistancy otherwise I would run the risk of hurting myself by not having an accurate alchohol level. I wonder, if I got good at it, what it takes to get a license to legally make it? Either way it would be great to sit around a camp fire sipping with friends on a medicine of my own make!
