How to get lasik surgery"I CAN SEE!!!"
How I did it: I had been thinking about it for a long time and finally decided to do it. I couldn't wear contacts everyday anymore without causing my eyes serious irritation and I was getting so sick of having glasses on my face. I went to Lasik Plus and put $300 down. I paid off the rest of the balance in 18 months. The surgery was really quick and so incredibly worth it. I can see even better than I ever did with glasses and from the moment I wake up. I can fall asleep in bed watching a movie with subtitles and not wake up with my contacts glued to my eyes. I can wear sunglasses right off the rack. I can go swimming and not worry about losing a lens if I open my eyes under water. I can see dust motes, floating in the air! Never again will I have to walk from room to room squinting down at every table wondering where the hell I left my glasses. Lessons & tips: Lasik Plus has locations in many states. If you think you can't afford it, they have financing options. Resources: http://www.lasikplus.com/

How I did it: Went in for a free consultation. They give you an eye exam and map your corneas. I was told I couldn't have LASIK because of the shape of my corneas, so they offered me LASEK instead. A very similar procedure, but it's a surface treatment, and there was quite a bit of discomfort in the days after the surgery, which you don't get with LASIK. The weeks following the surgery my vision was fluctuating. Although my vision had improved som… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I had it done in February and I have to have it done again hopefully this summer. I'm not seeing the best - 20/40 and I have to wear glasses when I drive. Hopefully second time around I get to 20/20!! Read how I did it…
How I did it: I went and got an eye exam at my doctor when I was 24. He said to wait a year before getting surgery but I could probably get it done. A year later I had enough money for the surgery. I asked someone I knew where he got his done and highly reccomended a local surgeon. I went to the office and got a free consultation. I decided to get custom epi-lasik rather than traditional Lasik or PRK. Read how I did it…

i shall learn if i’m a candidate or not.
sort of hoping i’m not as i’m so scared of it all.

so retarded, but i’m so tempted to cancel my appt. i’m SO scared something will go wrong and i’ll lose my sight.
(losing my sight has been a fear since childhood and watching “Little House…” Mary Ingles was studious and lost her sight and I was studious so I was convinced as a kid that I’d go blind. YES, I know it’s stupid.)

So I’m about to need contacts again and I ONLY trust my doc in Orlando. I’m nervous about finding a good eye doctor here in Austin.
Soooooo, a Lasik Plus commercial comes on and it got my attention.
I called and talked to a really cool woman. I was super-nervous on the call because I am SO scared to do this. Anyway, my consult is November 14th. I’ll find out if I’m even a candidate.
Hope I am.
I’ve wanted to get this done for some time. For some reason I’ve always had an excuse not to too expensive, too scary, etc. Now I finally have the money and I’m very excited. I have an appointment for a free consultation August 20th!
sick of wearing my glasses 24/7! id love to do the surgery but it looks very expensive
Romko summer officially started!
This is truly one of the biggest goals of my life. I believe that vision is so important and is the best gift you can give to yourself.
I am only 16 but I am quite happy that there is a chance lasik eye surgery might advance in the next years.
jcarvin is at work
I’m too afraid of the long term effects. Maybe I’ll overcome the fear after they’ve been doing the surgery for 20 years or so.

I went and talked to the Omaha Eye & Laser Institute, and did all the tests and got my quote. It will be $3200 for the full job. Not as bad as I thought it would be, since I’m going to the best place in Nebraska. And luckily I can use my HSA (and even though I’ve put all that money in there, it’s still income tax free). I’ve got $1800 in there now, and I just upped my contribution to $80 per month, so this goal will be accomplished. I just don’t know how long. If I allow myself to do the math right now, I’ll get overwhelmed and discouraged.
So- I’m just going to be glad that I’m saving up for something important to me, and stick with it, and eventually I’ll get there…
I can’t believe it’s been two months since I had Lasik surgery. The doctor said my eyes are doing good today. What a great investment.
