mostly in the romancing languages… but not spanish
How to become trilingual
How I did it: Was never taught any foreign language in school.Have been speaking English and Hindi since childhood.Decided to learn multitudes of foreign languages in order to differentiate myself from the common lot :p . Started with spanish.Devoted myself completely.learnt the basic phrases, verbs, all kinds of tenses and developed a large vocab in around a month's time..And I have been trying to improve myself everyday..Started listening to podcasts, chatting(voice) with native speakers to achieve fluency and now I can talk to them easily...Have started learning Italian as well, and the progress has been good..Can converse with and understand a native Italian and Spaniard now :) ...Wow...I can speak 4 languages now !! French is the next target :)
Lessons & tips: Try to cram up all kinds of tenses, although start with the basic ones first.learn the basic verbs, vocabulary and start chatting..Also podcasts might help as they give you a real time experience of the language as it is spoken by a native person. keep yourself motivated, look at the positives of learning a new language and so on..Review everything you have learnt once in a while ..Hope this helps :)

I’m Spanish/English biligual now, wanting to add maybe Portuguese or another romance language to my list.

So I speak 2 languages, fairly fluently. I want to learn a 3rd. I’m thinking Portuguese, which is logically the easiest in sound to the Spanish/English that I speak.
So, I changed from taking Standard Level French to Higher Level. I’m the only one in my school doing it, and my teacher decided to unexpectedly quit. Her last day is Tuesday, and then I’m all alone until the exam in May. I’m super stressed but I think it’ll help me become close to fluent. I have a bunch of Swahili tapes I’m working on, so maybe within the next year or two I can cross this one off the list :)!
I’ve taken two years of Spanish, I’m starting French 101 this quarter at college. I’ve always wanted to be trilingual but my Quebecoise girlfriend has inspired me to take French.
This is in conjunction with my double minor goal, I want to Double Minor in French and Spanish.

pretty upset that i have to stop taking french bc it will no longer fit in my schedule :[ french 4 honors was the next step and thats gone. its good that i’ve been speaking it with my relatives but its still not as good as i want it to be and i dont know if i can count it as fluent.. still deciding on arabic (relatives speak it) next or spanish (would be cool to learn!)

I just got my language proficiency interview results back for my Romanian oral exam last week.
I got Advanced Low.
This is a two-level jump from where I was 6 months ago, when I scored Intermediate-Mid. I am still far from fluent, but if I can jump another two levels in the next six months, I’ll be pretty close! I am really hoping for that “superior” ranking before I finish peace corps!

Progress!
This weekend I had a whole two-day training in Romanian, which ended with a test that went (I think!) well. Definitely on my way to proficiency. THEN yesterday I had my first Russian lesson!
dscarth is wasting my life away.
I would truly love to become trilingual. I want to learn French first, followed by Spanish.
