I have let some physical limitations keep me from doing what I love, which is dancing. I want to start dancing again and explore all different kinds of dance expression. And I want to do it within the next two months.

Today I had my first dance class in two years!
While I remembered much of the basic moves, I realized I was insanely out of practice.
I’m glad it wasn’t too difficult to get started again. All it required was for me to pick up the phone!
I am only taking one dance class a week at the moment, which is a lot less than I used to dance; in particular, ballet. However, that one class was enough to re-spark the passion I once had towards dance. Dance classes are not a high priority like they used to be for me at one time, but I have realized that I still enjoy classes and that one class a week is better than nothing. Over the summer, I am hoping to start taking open classes in the city because those are more challenging than what I am currently taking at the local studio.
The hardest part about going back to dance is realizing how much technique, flexibility, and strength went away. It’s hard to not compare myself now to how I used to be but then I remind myself that dwelling on the past doesn’t help. Sure I used to be able to do triple pirouettes on my left side when I was thirteen, and yes my leg was a lot higher when I did developpes, but what hasn’t changed is my love for dance. Dance will always have a part in my life somehow.
I stopped dancing when I went to college. After graduation I want to take it up again.

Wohoo, going out dancing tonight with Elsa! :) I’ll try to get some of the other girls to join us, too. It’s been ages since we’ve been out with a bigger group, I’m missing it.
The last time I went dancing was with Juho, in the beginning of February. It was fun, but sadly we didn’t get to dance for very long before we had to leave the club. Definitely want to go dancing with him again, too!
Well I have enrolled in a dance class that starts on friday… so we’ll see how it goes. I’m pretty happy about it and if all goes well then I’ll enroll in some more classes.
SirGalahad is writng a report on ways to find your future partner
Few people join dancing partners websites compared to fitness groups. Surprisingly there seem to be more dancers in total on the fitness group than the dancing website. The problem with dancing is a lot of the top level dancers want very good partners. It’s unlikely you will find any new dancers. Perhaps things will improve. I’m in an age group where just not many people are online anyway.
merlotini is making a lot of changes.
i should have removed this off my to-do list…coz i’m soo through with it. almost every week…i dance. though not going through a whole routine of dances that i used to.
its probably the happiness. when you happy, its always easy to stump your feet and hum a tune until you finally find your body swaying and dancing! happy!
I didn’t like the lyrical teacher so I switched over to the Thursday night modern class with a teacher I’m familiar with. So far I’ve had the modern class twice. The modern class has become more advanced since I was last in it (last June), but I like that because it feels good to have a challenge. It felt so good to be back! It’s a bit weird to be unable to do things that once came very easily to me but I’m dancing more for enjoyment now anyway. My parents actually laughed at me when I got home from class because I said with a huge smile on my face, “I’m going to be SOO sore tomorrow!” I had missed that feeling, haha.

I haven’t danced in ages again.
Oh how I’d love to go out dancing with my friends, it’s been such a long time since I’ve done that either.
