one of those nice-to-know things. and as someone who bikes pretty much 365 days a year, it seems silly that i can’t even change my own flats. but my time is limited, and my interest really isn’t there… so i will honor the almighty specialization of labor on this one and keep going to the bike shop for repairs!

Brian can't get a break
Flipped my hub around to ride fixie for the first time. Great ride. Flipped the hub with no worries. Took the opportunity to clean the bike and chain. Next project: New brakes!
Alright, this needs to happen. I need a new mini because seriously there needs to be more freak bikes around. And I miss riding a mini. The only way that it’s going to happen is if I make one. So Earn-a-Bike once a week. And I need to read the bike book I got. Cool.

I hope. I mean, I havne’t had a chance to go for a ride yet, but after a bit of tinkering, I seem to have gotten rid of the tightness. Adjusted the seat while I was at it, and wiped the bike frame clean. My next goal is to do some preventative maintenance—including clean and oil chain, etc. I also want to flip my hub to a fixed gear.

My headset is tight… At about a 25 or 30 degree turn in either direction, it fixes in place. I’m using Todd Downs’ “Bicycle Maintenance & Repair” and hoping an adjustment will loosen it up a bit.
Once I get my job situation sorted out, I’d like to start volunteering at Plan-B, the community bike project in my neighborhood. I’ll be learning more and helping out.
Earn-A-Bike is such an awesome resource. I should make it a goal to go at least once every two weeks. And read the book I have on repair. I should have a good road bike by the time spring comes.
As my bicycle is now broken (front brakes kaput) and I have no idea how to fix it – so i booked my bike into the workshop and booked their bicycle maintenance course at the same time. Happens on 8th June – and its free – you beauty.
