In the end this was much less nerve-wracking than I thought it would be. I found it easier to approach someone after giving it a minute or two to judge the situation. I didn’t rush in there and say anything stupid! Just a simple, hey how are you blah blah blah and met a nice guy. Yay for breaking the ice!

Had a bit of a flirt & a chat with a bartender last weekend but doesn’t really count cause they get paid for the privelege ;)
I find it really hard to speak to new people without being introduced by a mutual friend or colleague, but will try harder to be less shy and awkward. Maybe I am missing out on a wonderful friendship and I don’t even know it?
I don’t know why I find this so hard, but I am very awkward in social situations. When I’m out for the night with my friends I usually avoid talking to new people and would never normally strike up a conversation with someone I don’t know. I love to people watch but it leads to my bad habit of judging people before I even know who they are. I’m going to try and be more approachable and hope that I make some new friends or at least quit stereotyping people so much.
