play at an open mic night

J and I did an open mic night. We were the first act, which was weird, but it worked out great cuz we had somewhere else to go after that. Anyway…. he played three songs and I sang with him on the first one. :D :D It was totally fun! And I kind of want to do it again. It was at the Caribou Coffee by his place. No monitors though, so that was kind of weird.

But yeah!!

So, a failed attempt to attend (as audience members only) an open mic night at a church turned into accidentally successfully attending an open mic night at Caribou Coffee. Oops? (Was that even a legit sentence?)

So the talent was… not all that talented, but it was cozy, colorful, and loud enough to talk about inappropriate things without worrying about being overheard. Also: checkers. An entirely entertaining evening, really.

I’m not sure if, the more often I hear horrible acts, I am more inclined to try this myself or less…

There’s an open mic night the first Friday of every month that my friend either plays at or goes just to watch, and we might do something together the next time it rolls around… eek! I’m kind of excited, though!

just please do something different than the usual run-of-the-mill open mic thing, acoustic moody shit. god im tired of that.

Its not really that bad. The scariest part is waiting but once you start performing its the best thing ever

it’s soo much fun. mainly just rockstar training for later in life…

i sing well, i play good, i write songs, i do covers…
i am just DEATHLY afriad. if i were to just be singing that’s no problem. but to sing AND play with my guitar is just scaring the crap out of me!
