Breakfast:
Slice of cake
Orange juice

Lunch:
Guacamole toastie with extra nuts

Homemade carrot & coriander soup
Two slices of bread

Dessert:
The last slice of cake!
A plum

Half a can of lemonade

Meh, didn’t eat a lot today, and nae green veg either.



Day Four - 27/6/09 2 weeks ago

Breakfast:
Two slices of toast with baked beans and mushrooms
Orange juice
Yet another slice of cake

Lunch:
Yet more cake!
Bottle of coke
Pint of cider
Half a shandy

Dinner:
Shepherd’s pie with TVP ‘mince’, onion, leek, carrot, mushroom and courgette. Yum!

Dessert:
Eh, another bit of cake. Just a small bit though!

Other:
Two cups fennel tea

I ate copious amounts of cake, yet again. It’s sooo good! Had a liquid lunch which wasn’t great but was out and about at a protest so didn’t really have time/opportunity to get something to eat, other than nomming on cake when I could.



Day Three - 26/6/09 2 weeks ago

Breakfast:
Slice of cake
Two slices of toast with soya spread

Lunch:
Pasta with grated carrot, mushroom, onion and kale
Slice of cake
Pomegranate and blueberry juice

Dinner:
Pie made with leftover veg concoction from lunch
Oven chips
Orange juice

Dessert:
More cake!
Orange and cranberry juice

Other:
Two glasses of water

Day Two (of joy) - 25/6/09 2 weeks ago

Breakfast:
Porridge (rice milk), cashews and raisins
Two slices toast with leftover grated carrot and dressing
A satsuma
Glass of orange juice

Lunch (a picnic!):
Brown bread, tomberries and hummous
Potato salad
Can of Sprite

Dinner:
Potato & kale enchiladas with roasted chilli sauce (a Veganomicon recipe – YUM!)
Mango & apple juice

Dessert:
Pie with skooshy cream!!

Other:
Slice of chocolate cake
Peanut butter cookies
Half packet of crisps
Glass of orange juice
Peppermint tea

I had soo much nice food today. The copious amounts of vegan baking consumed is down to the fact that I was (belatedly) celebrating my birthday with one of my best friends who happens to be a vegan chef! I’m now in possession of a triple chocolate cake with vegan marshmallows (straight from the US!) all to myself! ;D



Day One - 24/6/09 2 weeks ago

Pancakes (made with rice milk) with a chopped banana, some raisins and lashings of maple syrup
Orange juice

Lunch:
Sandwich with spicy couscous (brown bread)
Packet of crisps
Fry’s Chocolate Cream bar
1/3-1/2 litre energy drink

Dinner:
Sandwich with kale, one grated carrot, cashew nuts, raisins, sesame seeds and homemade salad dressing (tahini, oil, seasoning) (multi-seed bread)
Half a small tub Pringles

Dessert:
Strawberries, grapes and melon

Other:
Two pieces of toast with soya spread and jam (white bread)
Two mugs green tea

I had three types of bread today, how exciting! Er… I ate five small meals rather than three large ones, I think that’s good? Dunno. Hmm. More… data… required…



Wee preface 2 weeks ago

I’d like to keep a food journal on here to allow me to examine my current diet and identify any changes I feel I should make. My prime concern is being healthy and getting sufficient vitamins, minerals and whatnot. The last time I checked my BMI I was within the ‘normal’ weight range so I’m not really concerned about that. [I am aware of the criticism surrounding the nature of BMI measurement, but what I’m trying to get across is that things are pretty much tickety-boo in that area]

I already know I have some problem areas which despite not manifesting themselves in weight gain etc. can’t be doing me much good. I eat a lot of sweet foods, mainly in the form of sugary drinks, chocolate, biscuits and cake. Ye ken vegans can still have a sweet tooth! I also know I’m not eating enough green veg, and should probably be including more nuts and seeds into my diet. Hopefully, a food journal will allow me to have more of an overview on what I’m eating and provide me with the necessary kick up the arse to change my sugar/carbs/tottie -addicted ways!
