Time to start over... 1 month ago

I was looking at the entries I made on this 2 years ago and I decided not to delete this one. I haven’t been as faithful to this goal over the past 2 years. A lot has gone on and while He has been a part of my life and forever in my heart… For almost the last year His words have began collecting dust on the nightstand. Life has been covered in this haze. Every day slips by full of these negative feelings and I have to wonder where that feeling of gratitude has gone. When did I stop feeling blessed about all the things I have. Was it when life became easier, when a couple of my most desired prayers came true? When he delivered me from the life I once had that was full of stress, struggles and sadness? What kind of daughter am I to Him?

It’s times like this… when I feel like this… that I am so thankful for His love. I can go running back and know that His arms are wide open waiting to embrace me.

Matthew 5 1 month ago

I am studying the beatitudes. They are actually quite deep. My goal is the read all the words in red in the bible by the end of the summer. I am reading the words in red because those are the words Jesus spoke and I want to understand his way of thinking.

I want to take a quiet moment for reading my Bible each day, not just on Sundays.

Once you get into the habit of reading your Bible daily, it will become second nature. The best thing is to set aside a specific time to read every day. This was the biggest hurdle for me, I would wake up and think, “sometime today when I have some free time I will read my Bible”, but then I never had that extra free time! When my husband was in Afghanistan the best time for me was right before bed, after I put my daughter to bed there was no one to talk to so I would read then. Then I would go to sleep thinking about God’s word. Now he is back and the best time is in the morning before everyone else is up. Sometimes that is hard because the kids will wake up while I’m in the middle of reading, but I am teaching them to not interrupt, but in a way it’s good when they wake up becuase it is setting a good example for them.
If you are struggling to start, don’t just pick up your Bible and randomly read. Get a devotional book and follow the suggested reading. This will help you stay focused and interested. I did that for years and now that it is a priority in my life I am reading the Bible cover to cover. As of now I am in Acts!

Reading your Bible 12 months ago

What could be more important than reading and putting into practice what our Creator has communicated to us? I try to remember to read my Bible each night before I go to sleep.

I should try to do this every morning for at least 15 minutes, even if its just a psalm

set aside 15 minutes 16 months ago

My goal is to set aside at least 15 minutes a day to just sit down and read the bible instead of watching that extra tv show or eating those few extra chips. Its only a small amount of the day and i think with support it can be easily done. I want to be closer to God and have verses to help me through the day.

The truth will set you free... 17 months ago

lots of people say they don’t understand the bible, I think it’s the part they understand that bothers them…it is hard to read, and understand but I truly believe that if I follow it then I can make an impact on my and other peoples lives.
