    I find that if I drink a glass of water when I get to work, then I am more alert and can concentrate much better than if I have a tea or coffee! I’d like to carry this on throughout the day and generally increase my water intake.

    This turned out to be an interesting exercise & I learned quite a bit about myself & my body’s preferences through doing it.

    • I often don’t feel like drinking (or eating) anything, for at least the first hour that I’m awake
    • When I do drink (or eat) in the morning, I find myself with a strong seasonal preference, wanting warm/hot things on cooler days & cool/cold things on warmer ones
    • Although I had realized this to some degree already, the feeling was reinforced by this experiment: I just don’t like plain water, much; it’s more palatable if it’s cold or if it’s mineral water; if not mineral, if it’s at least carbonated; or, better yet, if it’s a mixture of half sparkling water & half fruit juice….
    • When I drank a glass of water first thing in the morning, I sometimes felt bloated & uncomfortable as a result; worse, I frequently found myself needing to use the bathroom during my morning commute (to say the least, the timing was not good!)
    • The most interesting & unexpected thing that I learned? I had assumed that starting the day with a glass of water would mean that my total water consumption per day would be greater than – for example – that I had drunk daily during the time I had spent on my previous goal (“drink more water”). But, in fact, I almost never drank as much water, overall, as I had done then, despite the weather’s being much warmer this time of the year.

    Although I’m not sure what to make of this yet, I’m considering adding a new (& more finely tuned) drinking water-related goal.

    So … any suggestions, 43T friends?

    Filled & emptied my water bottle (500 ml) 2x on Thursday. smile


    I’ve been doing this for a month! I’m going to use this milestone as a chance to assess my progress & (perhaps also) to fine-tune this goal a little more….

    Summary (of 32 days’ measurement):

    • on 1 day I drank 1.5 liters of water
    • on 22 days I drank 1 liter of water
    • on 9 days I drank 500ml of water
