I had a nice appointment today with the Sports medicine Doc and an acutely uncomfortable pre-med student from NC state.
MRI looks Great, I have nicely defined compartments, but not any syndrome. My stress fracture is gone.
So, I can run again. Due to the Physical Therapy, I am running more efficiently. Due to the static weight training, I am definitely running stronger. I’m bumping up my mileage, slowly… longer is coming.
Sans pain, well….I still have some pain. But…its so eay to deal with…
I feel like having a special leg party.

and it looks as if I can FINALLY mark this as done.
My MRI came back clear. After 8 months.
I still have a little residual pain, but the wierd pulling in the leg is also gone gone gone.
Planning for a half marathon in March now.
I can not believe my nightmare might actually be over.

today.
OMG it was crazy.
the MRI itself was alright. I ran 40 min outside doing a hill drill, then right into MRI for 1 hour 10 min. No stretch, nothing. I have to say…I got so cold in there and stiff…
Results on Weds.

My leg is starting to feel better. I felt a funny sensation in the leg, sort of a tugging then a “popping” and oddly, I have had a lot less pain. I have a shin splint, but I am used to that. One doc at work thinks I may have performed my own fasciotomy…but at any rate. MRI Tomorro….bout time…
but you know, I’ve had some pain free moments in the course of this, so I’m holding my breath.

My Doc took pity on me today, We are going to try this new technique, running until the pain is unbearable, then lickety split, run me into the MRI. Get the MRI and examine compartments, then unfortunately stick the needles in.
We get to check on the stress reacted area identified in August. I guess it was the pale look on my face when he came in with that bucket of needles….

today is the day. I go and get the compartment testing in less than an hour. I’m scared stiff like a board. It didn’t help, lotsa people were telling me how bad it is and how it may be difficult to get a good reading, and and and….
I should have never told anyone. Yikes! Still. I am an adult. TIme to suck it up and deal….
I’m sparing all of y’all the photo illustration this time!

I’m not doing very well with return to running again. 5 miles this week and the leg hurts again.
I woke up last night at 2 am and started thinking about it. Then I realized that I was still not much better. Then I got really sad.
Emailed Doc today. He wants me to come in and have compartment syndrome testing. Sounds good, but it involves a few needles stuck into my leg. Oh I am a needle phobe and I am not looking forward to this. But I have to do it.
After reading up on this, I find that on average it take people with compartment syndrome an average of 2 years to get a diagnosis, so…
I must be really desperate as I am going to let him poke needles into my leg.

physical therapist let me run today. SHe essentially decided since i was illegally running anyway, I might as well run in front of her.
My gait is improved and at 1.10 mi I started to have “wierd” pain…
It’s getting there.

not longer, but definitely stronger, efficiently and sans pain
Well….I had some pain so I walked. We will see if I managed to do enough to feel good, but not enought to rehurt myself.

had a long 30 min electro stim treatment today. The PT tried to explain the theory behind it, but I didn’t quite get it. It did make my leg feel much better this time.
I get to skip Friday!
Ran about .75 miles on the ellipitical trainer today, not fun at all. but…I am getting there.
