Building a Ruby Contest 4 years ago

Well, all this said it still comes down to a daily committment to promoting, constructing and learning Ruby. IORCC is a simple attempt by me to have fun again at coding. Much of the time I spent in the early years (late 70s and early 80s) coding were done so without very little time coding, and more time interacting with people, machines and socializing. Then came the big wave and business end of the industry. Now I’m back full circle rediscovering things and sorting thru all the trash left behind by the past 10 years of obfuscation we saw and warned folks about.

The 2005 International Obfuscated Ruby Code Contest (IORCC) is about a lot of things for me personally. The above obviously describes a midlife crisis. Looking at others works less critically and finding form and function where it may not have otherwise been appreciated. To get back to work, to make a positive difference in the world of software. And finally, to grow as a human, to help those around me while learning along the way.
