I figure if I write one song per month, by this time next year I will have 12 songs written. Along the way, once one is completed lyrically, I can collaborate with two good friend to help with accompaniment and harmony. If all goes well, then it is my goal to be able to record a 12-track CD in 2010, for friends and family primarily.
I can do this. :D

recorded a very very rough version, but want to do it again, properly. Just wish my playing, singing and recording skills could do justice to the songs in my head. More practice needed I guess :)

but did manage to write a song, though it’s probably not one anyone else will ever hear. Quantity, not quality, in this case.
On the other hand, I’ve got 90% of Cyn’s song down – need the next month to practise playing and performing it (I’m much better at songwriting right now than I am at performing) – but when it’s ready, it’s gonna be so great :D

because without it I’d probably never finish a song again ever. It’s so tempting to leave songs half-finished. But I made it for April. Just. I finished the song around 11.45 pm last night.
I like to live on the edge.
It’s still the case that I can come up with music ideas relatively easily – but words, less so. In a way because I feel words are more… closely tied to me. If the music is bad, I can just shrug it off and write some more. If the words are bad, I feel it reflects poorly on me.
But because I have this goal and this deadline, I forced myself to finish the song. And now I think I have a happy song! I’ll write more under that goal.

or at least 90% of one anyway. Didn’t think I was going to make it, then while I was on a train on the 31st an idea popped into my head. And then later when I got home I picked up the guitar, and the chord progression was right there. As usual with songs that come this easily I worry I’ve stolen it from somewhere. Still, I’m going to finish it.
I’ve developed a bit of an aversion to recording since the RPM project, and it’s something I’m going to have to get over. To help me with that, I’m looking to get a new microphone. It’s expensive, at least in terms of what I can afford right now, but I think it’ll be worth it.
I also have quite a few music ideas I can use this month, and I now know where to look for ideas for lyrics – just need to find the time!
