I’ve asked the Birthday Bunny to bring me a greyhound for my birthday, but I don’t think he has enough money to adopt Artemus for me.
Still haven’t heard about the approval of my social security case, which is likely going to be the time when I can afford to adopt him.
I didn’t take him to a meet and greet this week, and next week I can’t. But after that, if I haven’t been able to adopt him yet, I’ll have to start showing him again to people who have the means to adopt him :(

feel drained. just had a bizarre comment to my last entry in this goal. not sure I dealt with it the right way… just wrote back without thinking. Feel sure now that I must have misunderstood the comment.

tomorrow I take Artemus for another 2 hour meet and greet. He had a nice shower this morning, though he glared at me the whole time. He’s all sparkly and ready to impress. I just keep hoping, though, that no one will find him as fabulous as I do, and that my social security disability will be approved, and I can adopt him myself.
I struggle with this a little bit. One of the Quaker testimonies is truth/integrity, and I have to admit I’m not trying very hard to make him suitable for another home. I haven’t begun training him as I should. He’s still very much a puppy, even at two and a half. Greyhounds, when they first come off the track and into a home, no matter what their age, need to learn how to be a dog instead of a racing machine. They’ve never seen a house, or an animal that’s not a greyhound, or windows—they’ve never been house-broken, or had a person of their own. They have much more than the average dog to learn, much later in life, and really are very puppy-ish in many ways.

artemus is our foster greyhound boy, and he’s stolen my heart. tomorrow I have to take him to the pet store to show him to a potential adopter.
Manaia is going to study
Or perhaps just a more accomodating landlord. But I love greyhounds, and would like to foster one at some point. I think the experience would make me a better dog trainer, too – they’re supposed to be very different to my favourite bully breeds.
greyhounds and the more I read about them the nicer they sound to have around. So I am going to make inquiries. The rescue organisation will be at some local markets in August. I intend to check them out.
