I’m probably going to do exactly the opposite of this.
But it won’t be small and meaningless.
I’m probably going to do exactly the opposite of this.
But it won’t be small and meaningless.
When I was a kid in rural Indiana, the only people that had tattoos were ex-convicts or ex-Navy. At some point when I was in college, everyone in the world decided to get one, to be unique. Now I think I’m the unique one, because I don’t have any. And the only other people I know who don’t have any are Mennonites and Amish.
And they’re often meaningless and poorly placed. I was particularly struck by a coworker not being able to tell me what her kanji tattoos said. Another recently got a teddy bear on her thigh, which seems unlikely to hold any deep significance.
Generally the only type I seem to like is the full sleeve variety in that it’s like a careful geometric design that fills a space completely. I very much dislike the tendency to have numerous small, disjointed icons all over, which seems to be so popular among everyone I meet…
So, I reckon I’ll abstain from acquiring a tattoo altogether to break the cliche.
