Only 2 major bills to go. Still have a bad history so this will be a challenge for the future. I don’t think you can ever get the slate clean!
How I did it: I had about 1,000 in credit card debt, which I paid off with my tax refund. I paid cash for all my schooling (at a community college) rather than take out student loans. We just pay for everything up front and finance nothing, except our house. We also drive used cars and pay cash for them. Read how I did it…

Red letters go on a chalk board in the kitchen, I write the amount in chalk, everyday it aggravates me to see it and motivates me to pay it off. I only have the weekends to pay bills off but that board definitly works! I am also quite methodical about where I start to clean in the house and always start with the kitchen first, so that reminder is there to declutter my debts and I tackle them every weekend now! Not quite debt free but getting there.

I have a payee who takes care of my debts. Yet I could probably do a better job.

ugh, just took $1000 out of my credit account – with truely scary interest rates – to pay for Eddy’s school ski camp, because I will not ask for a loan or gift from anyone. Pride, eh?

I have an ‘interest free’ loan, I have six months to pay it off befoer it leaps to 28.5%. It is $1250, not huge but I am on a pension so I need to be vigilant. I have $500 in savings and I can’t decide if i should put that on it or keep it for contingencies, which arise a lot as I am the single mother of 3 teenagers.
i am working in a joyless job just to clear my debts every month. I have zero savings, a huge ass full of debts and my entire paycheck goes into paying off bills. I live on nothing every month and cannot break out the vicious cycle. I dunno how much longer i can hold on. I am so scared I will like this for the next 20 years and it will be too late for me to start living!!!!

Put the highest interest ones at the top of the pile – Get rid asap!
Put the ones threatening to take legal action to the top – be brave start pleading.
Negotiate monthly instalments – take responsibility and budget
Get my credit rating back to a good standard.
Feel pleased with myself.

20/02/09 I had the opportunity to pay them all off 2 years ago from the sale of my home. Instead I paid half of them off and gave money to my children, who didn’t pay it back. Now I am looking for a debt advisor because my ignorance has made things worse.
25/02/09 I land this job with lucrative income, I’m aiming for this goal straight off! I am so unhappy when I have these millstones around my neck, get rid and have some freedom.
04/03/09 Will spend this weekend working out payment plans from the end of April.Have started to tackle some credit cards which I no longer use but am stilling paying off.
