London to Brighton Failed.... 1 month ago

Decided on 2nd August to set myself a decent challange and entered the London to Brighton 56 mile race. The training of 6 weeks proved to be ludicrously short and I failed in my 1st attempt. Felt great to 20 miles, pretty good to Marathon distance then tripped over a stump got off course 5 times and ended up dragging my right leg at a miserable walking pace having missed a cutoff time by 15 minutes at the 31 mile stage. I only managed 37 miles and have a damaged tendon in my lower leg – but now 11 days later it is starting to feel better and I am hoping I can get out and start running again. Booked a 30 mile off road race in December so have 8 weeks to get stronger and in better condition.

Def will do 2010 London to Brighton….

Running for 12 years, Ultrarunning for 8 years 3 months ago

So far, I’ve completed a total of 83 races, 39 of them are ultramarathons. Specifically, I’ve completed two 24-hour runs, nearly twenty 50-milers, and a handful of various other distances. Send me a message via 43 Things and I’ll be glad to answer any questions, etc via my personal email account!

50 miles first, then 100 miles 6 months ago

Not currently living in a location that makes training for an ultramarathon feasible. Once I’m back in the United States, I plan on registering for a local/close 50 mile race. Will see how the 50 mile race goes first and then give myself another year to complete a 100 mile ultramarathon. This is a goal that I’m not going to rush, the risk of injury is too high. Work my way up in distance over two years.

Technically an ultramarathon..... 13 months ago

So I attempted the Vermont 50 mile over the weekend. I had been training since May, but a last-minute change of course meant that I had not trained on enough hills. A weekend rain deluge also made for crazy slippery and muddy conditions. The good news is that I can honestly say that I did my best, but the bad news is that the effort was insufficient to finish. The race staff pulled me off the course at mile 27 as my pace had fallen below the pace necessary to finish in 12h. Next time, I guess.

I need to work up to marathon distance first, lol. I’m doing a 12.2mi mountain run (2,000ft elev. chance starting aroun 9,000ft) at the end of August, so I’m mad excited about that, and hopefully I’ll continue doing this race (among others around that distance) for the next few years while I’m still in HS. Once I get to college I’m hoping to do a few marathons, then after that do at least one ultra when I have the time to train.

Hoping to run an ultra in Summer/Fall 08. Looking at running the Conquer the Canuck out in New Brunswick in mid-August.

My First Ultramarathon 2 years ago

Very good feeling after all. It was mountain ultramarthon – i finished it in 24 hours. Night hours were very difficult. I’ve missed path twice, but overall experience is wonderfull. I will do it again.

Burning River 100 2 years ago

I’m finishing my last season of track in 3 weeks, and I want to get into the marathons/ultras now! I’m going to try the Burning River 100 in OH in August - its a new one, and it’ll be the first one I run!

(I want to run an ultra before I run a marathon, or else I’m scared I might never want to race any further =D )
