2009KellyG why are there so many people on here with no activity? Not a good sign

When? 3 days ago

This one is going to be a long time coming kind of goal. It seems like many of my goals involve money, so we’ll see. I have recently signed my self up for a miles reward card and hopefully this will help. No I won’t get in over my head. Credit is paid monthly, don’t worry. Anyway, I couldn’t pinpoint a single destination in Europe. Would love England, Ireland, Scotland, Italy, France, Norway, and so on. I just wanna go take it all in. I think I’ll need a month or two (LOL).

Maybe I should add foreign language to my list. What to they speak in England again (HA!)?

Ticket in hand! 6 days ago

Ah-hah. I finally have my ticket to Paris! Isn’t that awesome? Answer: IT’S AWESOME. Only two nights there before I go to Bordeaux for ESSLLI (Then another night on the way back). I’m planning like crazy so I can make the most of it. This should be really, really fun. I feel like I should write a novel about it afterwards. :)

I lived in Germany for a year once, but that was so long ago. Perhaps it’s time to start a savings toward that.

go go europe. 3 weeks ago

I’m convinced if I visit Europe I’ll never want to leave. Maybe I won’t.

Either way, I won’t have the chance for at least a few years. How unfortunate.

I really want to go... 3 weeks ago

but I don’t want to be the ignorant American that doesn’t speak a word of the native language. I would love to learn different languages (French first, maybe German), but I don’t have anyone to practice with every day or even someone to teach me. ::sigh:: looks like this goal will have to wait until I am rich enough to hire a translator.

ok.. so i'm excited! 4 weeks ago

My friend Bethy (who, i’m sure is lurking around this site somewhere but i’ve yet to find her) moved to GERMANY and i was sooo jealous. of course, she only went because her husband’s military.. but still. so i know that if i can get over there, i’ll have a place to stay for a little while anyway. but the reason i’m excited is because i’ve got the opportunity to study abroad in IRELAND which is somewhere i’ve wanted to go forever and i’m going to do my best to take advantage of this opportunity. several things have to happen first.. but you can keep up with that in my “study abroad” goal.
i’ll post more when the date gets closer.. but i’m soo freaking excited i’m actually going to go!!

The Dream 1 month ago

Our group decided to go to Europe this summer. I wasn’t going for the longest time and that really bummed me out, because Europe has been something I’ve wanted to do since I was like eleven. Maybe even younger. I know a ridiculous amount of crap about the Italian Renaissance thanks to Humanities in grade 8, the English monarchy, Paris (we study it every year in French, it’s ridiculous), among other things, and I’ve just always figured that instead of just reading and talking about all these things and places, maybe I should actually go see and experience them. Instead of looking at “The School of Athens” in a book, I should go see it, and the Tour Eiffel, and everything else. There comes a point in your life where you being content with hearing about the world and the everything going on in it, and you just need to step off the bench and into the game. Maybe I’ve got my analogies screwed up, but you get my meaning. So like I said, I was really upset I wasn’t going to be going, but after a lot of hard work and me being especially charming, I am. Yes! And forget academia, it’s Europe for fricks sake. It’s going to be amazing. And it’s especially awesome because I will be going with some of my best friends in the world (except G, :(, and I get to experience all this with them. I’m pretty stoked. Look out Paris, Bern, Bruges, Venice, and Rome, here I come.
