A couple hundred bucks for a new drive + approx. 15 minutes install time = quiet & happy Tivo with mega-recording capacity. Well worth it, esp. since the new Tivos will all come with monthly subs, and I’m keeping this one running for free as long as possible.

These aren’t really ‘mods’ by definition, just things I want to do to my Tivo.
1. Setup Galleon (http://sourceforge.net/projects/galleon/)
2. Image my current Tivo drive for backup
3. Add a larger drive (only have 40gb now)
4. Wire it up to record one channel while watching another
5. Add a few HME apps

...is the sound my creaky old 5+ yr old Tivo hard drives are making. Time to upgrade and hope that it doesn’t kill my earlier ethernet card mod.
