I’ve been emailed about an improv workshop coming up next month and I’ve already expressed interest. I haven’t heard back yet, but it’s the weekend, so by Monday I’ll know. Maybe.

I attended a 3 day workshop for only 2 days, since I have a wedding to go to. I think I’ve improved, but I need to do it more, rather than just take workshops and wish on it.

Yes, I’d like my organs donated when I die, but I’m participating in this http://www.effectivearts.com as an actor, so I’m portraying a family member who lost someone and has to give consent to have their organs donated. I’m participating in a workshop tomorrow! Several of us rehearsed yesterday after auditioning on Sunday. Emotional and informative. I love improv!

I haven’t been active in a year, so I’ll put this on the backburner for now. I loved doing it years ago though.
I’m not really that good; I’ve done short form, and it’s completely different from the long form that everyone does here. Yes, and-ing, character building, etc. I feel out of my league, but hey… practice.
Idaaah is feeling blah
Tomorrow though, I’ll actually be able to listen to myself improvising, after improvising.
The big band I’m in has gone to the studios, and recording an album (no 3 in the line for the band through 13 years, my first time.), and I have a solo-impro on a song called “Seven Steps to Heaven”, by Miles Davies, arrangement by Gordon Goodwin.
Sortof looking forward to it, but I’ll be glad when it’s over.
Hopefully I won’t kill the song so much that Odd decide to not put it on the album.. <.<

The Big Band had its first concert for the year on Saturday. On the rehersal before, we played through all the songs we’ve been rehersing on, and I get to play “my” “Seven Steps to Heaven” (Miles Davies, but Gordon Goodwin arrangement). We didn’t play it on the concert, but that’s not my point. :P
During our break before the concert, the dude who’s just temping on barysax, told me he thought I did good improvising. I told him the truth, I had no idea what I were doing, I do not know how to read chords, I were just trying to play anything and at the same time not panick. XD
Which he replies to that then it’s even better, and that I have a good ear for the music.
So yay! ^^ Atleast I’m one step closer to another of my goal.
I also believe I get better at improvising every time I try.
He gave me a couple of hints and tips about improvising. Writing up the notes in the chord, then add the chords in a comp. program (that I don’t remember the name of. Beat of the box or something. o.o), and just jam ahead, figuring out what notes work and who doesn’t.
I am still in school and it is the only place i improvise, in drama and drama related things. i wish i knew where more places i could improvise are. ahh well i can always try after school next year and on the hols. any venues in brisbane australia would be much appreciated
i’m going to work the Casa De fruta ren faire. that should give me lots of street gig time!!
