My boyfriend and I currently live in apartment. And while it’s nice and large and fairly new with new appliances and new paint/new carpet, etc… It’s still not the same as having a house.
I want to have a home in the suburbs with a fenced in back yard for raising children and dogs. The house doesn’t have to be very large or even brand new.
I’ve told him how I feel but he wants to extend our lease here for another year.
It’s not so bad, but someday I hope we can have a home of our own.

We know what we want, where we want to be, we’ve looked at houses and can envision everything…but it comes down to saving up more first. We want to be able to make a confident offer, close, and be ready for anythin that flies at us after the big purchase. We’ve set up a separate savings account for house saving…now to start making deposits!

...how long will it take to buy a $300,000 home?

This one, just like marriage, is obviously a goal that I am not actively pursuing…its just a goal that I want to complete at some point obviously. It’s like the marriage goal, I just wouldn’t feel right to make a list of things I want to do in life and not include homeownership or marriage.

I am currently 20 years old, one month away from 21, and I want to invest in property in San Diego next year, live there until I move to Charleston, then rent it out. Preferably a two bedroom condo, because I feel like that would rent for more than a one bedroom place. By the time I am living in Charleston I will be making enough to cover the mortgage costs as well as whatever property I rent or buy next (with the help of rental fees).

I just want a yard for the little ones. A yard and garden for my children as well as to expand my child care business.
There’s not a tree in sight here.
I don’t foresee being financially able to acheive this on my own. It’s been so difficult just to survive. It is possible though but would likely take several years at this rate, with my credit and all.
It’s not about a material possession, just a little domestic santuary of my own. It would be nice.

maybe not....

My boyfriend and I might not end up getting a house once we get married since we’re going to remain child free and that just seems like a lot of upkeep for 2 people.
We’ll see though.

J. Downs is hoping for that improved contract.
I am desperate to close before December 1 so I qualify for that $8,000 tax credit and also don’t need to sign a new rental lease. Problem is, there is no way I will amass 20% down in time. So I’m just going to bite the bullet and dive in next month with an approximate down payment of 7.5% (mortgages in my area are still available with 3.5% or 5% down for first-time buyers). Wish me luck!
