My boyfriend and I might not end up getting a house once we get married since we’re going to remain child free and that just seems like a lot of upkeep for 2 people.
We’ll see though.
How I did it: Spent a few months finding the perfect place and then about 51 days of escrow. The last 21 of which were horrible! :) All worth it though!!!The bank I dealt with may be the slowest and most inefficient bank on the planet (maybe in the galaxy). Read how I did it…
How I did it: at some point you grow tired of thinking and make a decision and hope it's the right one. i found that the real estate business is fraught with conflicts of interest. very much buyer (and seller) beware. at least, be aware of what you are doing. don't trust the experts. do your own research. How I did it: After all the bad luck I have had in the past seven years I got really lucky with this. I moved out of the house with the rotting floors and no heat into a trailer that is three bedrooms with a very large yard. I lived here for only two months when the guy I payed rent to came to me and explained that the home belonged to a man that had past away right before I moved in. he was suppose to sell all the properties that the man owned and get… Read how I did it…

How I did it: I've always been a saver so it was just a matter of the right time. With the market the way it is the price of rent was higher than many mortgages in San Diego, CA. I started to look and get to know the areas with my wife. Once things started to drop we looked over our finances, went to financial counseling and got pre-approved for a mortgage. Read how I did it…
How I did it: We filed bankruptcy many years ago, and have spent the past 10 years digging out of that mess. We rented a house all this time, and paid off a massive pile of debt. We had just started to save money and pay down our few credit cards again when we found "the" house. We didn't think we were anywhere near being able to buy another house yet. Thursday night, I found a home online that I loved. By Friday at lunch time w… Read how I did it…

J. Downs is hoping for that improved contract.
I am desperate to close before December 1 so I qualify for that $8,000 tax credit and also don’t need to sign a new rental lease. Problem is, there is no way I will amass 20% down in time. So I’m just going to bite the bullet and dive in next month with an approximate down payment of 7.5% (mortgages in my area are still available with 3.5% or 5% down for first-time buyers). Wish me luck!
We’re in escrow! It took us about two weeks to find a place, and we had a scary moment when the appraisal came in WAYYY under what we offered, and we thought they’d back out, but things appear to be sailing ahead again. It’s a little small, but it has a big beautiful backyard and it’s in a great neighborhood. I’m so grateful we’ve found a couple of good agents, too! If things go according to plan, we’ll finalize the paperwork July 11. Hurray!
Shink "A goal without a plan is just a wish".
Once I’ve paid off my debts, saved up an emergency fund, bought a new car, and saved AT LEAST 20% for a down-payment I will start the home buying process.
randysable is being more responsible.
But it’s my goal to live as close to work as possible. Even after the $60,000 for 20% down there’s still the association fees and C®ook County property taxes. Oh well, here goes.

I’ve saved a fifth …still a long way to go but I’m determined to put that 20% down. Each month I have a set amount that automatically get allocated towards this dream. For the next 28 months, its crunch time:)
but we’ve been looking at Halifax and Ottawa real estate. =) 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms, big enough back yard to play with the kids.
I feel like that is all I do to try and one day obtain this goal. I am very determined to have to goal be accomplished.
