plant an organic garden

I haven’t had the time to start an organic vegetable plot as I’ve wanted, but my flower gardens are all 100% organic. No herbicides, no pesticides (save the occasional Dr. Bronner’s soap and water to squelch those nasty aphid colonies), no chemical fertilizers. I restarted my compost bin which I’d neglected when Amelia was born. Amazing how the half-rotted heap that’s been sitting there all this time has become a nice, hot, cookin’ pile of vitamins for my little plants with the addition of some kitchen scraps and some good stirring. It seemed like so much work the last few months before Amelia came along, I forgot the satisfaction of watching that crumbly, black earth emerging from my bin.
