Um, okay, I didn’t really realize how expensive skiing is… I had wanted to do a lesson rather than just trying to stay upright while careening down a mountain, and it was certainly more than I was willing to spend this past winter (what with having just bought a house and all…)
Maybe next year it will be more of a consideration.

I skied years ago (when I was about 4 or so) on the bunny hill and loved it but my family didn’t have money to make that a regular thing so the next time I ever skied was when I was in high school on a “Winter Fun Day”. It was pretty awful.
I’d originally decided to take a skiing lesson, but some friends convinced me not to spend the extra money – they said they’d teach me no problem.
So I tried the bunny slope a couple of times and it was fine. They didn’t really show me much of anything though. Then we went up to one of the big hills. It took me 45 minutes to get down the slope because I couldn’t turn… I’d ski from one side of the trail to the other, fall, get up and zig zag back and forth in that way to get down.
In BC though, there are mountains everywhere and it’s practically part of the culture to ski or snowboard. I’m not sure I’ll enjoy it, I’m not sure I will make it a hobby, but I want to take at least one proper lesson to see if it is something I’d like rather than letting one crummy experience eliminate the possibility.
