How I did it: Just dive in and do it, get the firefox add-on, it makes it even easier. Never lose a website that you found interesting/useful ever again. Just do it.
Lessons & tips: Be consistent and explicit in what you tag. Don't just bung things in with a tag that doesn't quite fit just because you've used it before. Make a fresh one, it's so easy! Also grouping becomes sensible after a while, when you find you have lots of fairly similar tags.
Resources: The firefox add-on is good. There is one for safari as well, but it's not so integrated.

I added all my bookmarks to the site…. but there are nearly 1,000 bookmarks tagged “unspecified” or whatever… now I have to sort through them all to tag em’ up correctly! Ughhh
pressreturn is moving 1's and 0's where they should be. I think.
I was resiting “another damn bookmarking site” – but the convenience of being to have your bookmarks on any computer is really cool. And as someone said – it plugs right into Firefox. Couldn’t be simpler.

I wasn’t sure what the heck this del.icio.us thing people were talking about… which is sad cause I work in Information Technology. It’s just a way of bookmarking links by “tagging” them with your own terms. 43things.com does this now with it’s tagging system
It is nice to switch around to different computers and have my links all available there. Otherwise, I find it kind of dumb and haven’t found myself using it very much.
