I did a fun run for a homeless charity, the Simon Community, on Saturday. It was great but I was exhausted from a busy week and wasn’t feeling that well, so it was a bit tough. Lots of hills on the course as well! Anyway, we all had a good time and raised a lot of money for charity and that’s what’s important.

Yesterday, I did a local hospital charity fun run . It was a small event, just 500 participants, but it was fun. I feel so great about myself and I’m really proud of my running club members who ran it with me. They only started running 10 weeks ago! I’m proud because I trained them :).
I enjoyed it so much that I want to do this regularly now. There’s a 5 mile run for a homeless charity in October, which I’m going to do. I need to race money for that, so better register soon.
There’s also a smaller 5k race for a hospice a week before that. I’m thinking of doing that, though it seems like a more serious race with mostly members of athletic clubs running it. Makes me nervous, but I might push myself to do it.
I want to find couple of 10k races to run as well and then, the big one, Flora Women’s mini marathon in June. It’s 10k and the biggest women only race in the world. I think something like 40,000 women took part this year. I want to be able to enter as an elite runner, so that’s why I need to take part in 2 timed races before it.
I did this back in 2006, and I didn’t do anything in 2007.
This year (2008) I’m back at it again!
New goal is to run for a charity at least once a year.
But maybe 5km for Breast Cancer. My Aunty does it every year so maybe I could train with her. Will look into it.
