How I did it: It was pretty easy/nerve-wracking, I had my boyfriend take me which was helpful. I went in to a room to talk to a woman (men aren't allowed into the consultation) and she asked me what I wanted. I said birth control, explained that I just bruise easily and am NOT in an abusive relationship (suspicious bruises on my face and the back of my legs). Next thing you know we're discussing the payment options for a depo shot.
I’m glad my best friend is so responsible. I went and visited her yesterday and she helped me take that first step to make an appointment.
Now I just have to keep it and figure out what method works best for me and my boyfriend.

How I did it: Ok. I read that dmpa was supposed to be injected while I still have a period so instead of waiting for my period to stop and then go to some OB I didn't know, I asked my sister who's also a doctor and is on BC. But, since her specialty is not OB/Gyn, she consulted her friend who is an OB/Gyn and asked if it's ok for me to take dmpa. She asked some questions like about my period and informed me of the most common side effects and there. she gave me a prescription and injected me with dmpa. So far, it's only been 14 days so I am not sure it's working (I so hope it does!) but I'm glad i did it because it allowed me to share a very intimate experience with my bf without the hassle of a condom. hihihi!
