I just need to have the courage to go to a doctor and ask for a prescription. I’m a little shy about this and I’ve heard some Gynes being judgemental to single women like me who ask for BC. I never want to experience that. I am considering dmpa injectables because I might forget taking pills. I’ve read all of the side effects and I’m still worried. For every 1000 women, 3 can still get pregnant.
Hope it won’t be me!

A realization
I realize now that the idea of fake periods does not turn me on. I like my periods as they are. I don’t like pills or medications, and I don’t have any problems that would make it necessary to take BC.
And as for the actual contraceptive effect of BC, what I use now is fine.
If it comes up that this is a better option for my lifestyle, then I’ll bring this goal back :)

In the 70's

True. In the mid-1970’s I went on birth control. I didn’t stay all that long. The doses were radically different than they are today. Still, when we say “going on birth control”, can’t that mean just for today?

I’m still only considering this.
The perks of the pill seem very attractive, but then there is still the whole weight gain and loss of bone density thing. And forcing your body to take in more hormones than natural every day? Just something a bit disconcerting about that.
Buuuut I’ve already put it off too long, I’ve got to schedule an appointment to talk to the doctor about it this week. Maybe she will help me figure out what I want to do. (Though I’m a little nervous that my intense fear of gaining weight will alarm her.)

Kaley is selling oranges by the freeway.
I’ve been on it for over two years. First it was Estrostep, then Yaz, now Yasmin. Aside from the fact that I can’t get knocked up, I have very little breakouts and NO CRAMPS when I get my “period”. I think every woman should take it even if they’re not sexually active. Unless they smoke cigarettes, but that’s gross, so yeah…

like most of the chicks here, i have awful periods. they are irregular, extremely painful, and just plain suck. i usually spend my period crying and in bed. i also am not ready to be a mother. every month i tell myself i will get on the pill. i have not been on birth control for nearly 6 years. it was so nice to know when it was coming. i could function. i am not quite sure why i have been so crappy about it. i want to try yaz. i give myself until july 7 to start.

SJ is luminous
I don’t know if this was “worth doing” just yet. I’m having some unpleasant side effects which will hopefully go away after my body adjusts. Feeling pretty nauseated here and there, having random headaches. Appetite is all over the place too.

I’m learning the upside of big business health care today. I was able to get a prescription for BCP over the phone. In fact, they seemed happy to avoid an appointment. I still made one, but as usual, it’s over a month away. I pick up my pills at the pharmacy tomorrow.
