I went for a taster session at the Mile End centre last Sunday. It was fantastic because they encouraged us to get right on with it. Most of time we were bouldering, which is without ropes and therefore a lot scarier than expected, but I got an amazing rush from pushing myself to climb higher than I thought I could. Now I can’t wait to go back and learn to climb properly – as soon as I can find a date we can make I’m going to get signed up for the two-day beginners course.

...to book a taster session but they kept me on hold for 10 minutes, and eventually I put down the phone. Will try again tomorrow, and refuse to give up until they let me climb!

I mostly boulder, but climbing is one of the best activities I’ve been involved with. Stick with it and watch your arm/shoulder/back/core strength skyrocket, not to mention it helped me get into the mindset of living healthy. There are also tons of people who are more than willing to help out beginner’s whether you boulder, top rope, or trad climbing.

I’ve taken up climbing – it’s wonderful!
So far I’ve only done the indoor stuff, but it’s amazing!
You get fit really quick and it’s great for clearing your mind.

it hurts quite a lot today – well worth it though; 5 hours of top roping and bouldering does take it out of one!
A mixture of physical and mental exercise.

My boyfriend has done this and really liked it. I would like to try this. We have a few climbing centres nearby so should be easy to try this out. Who knows if I like it, it may become a hobby.
