Two weeks ago I started my journey toward becoming a piper. I dedicate one hour a day to it. It is never a whole hour in one go. I split it up into 15 minutes. So when I come home from work/uni I get into my regular study routine, but I take a 15 minute break every 1.5 hours or so and this is how I have been cruising along ever since.
I am making excellent progress. I will starting lessons with a pipe band this week. Until now I’ve been working my way through Major Bill Robertson’s Bagpipe Tutorials online: http://www.bagpipe-tutorials.com/bagpipe-lessons.html
It’s an excellent resource.

I’ve got a chanter, but I don’t think that I’m likely to ever have time to take lessons. Maybe when my kids are older.

Man, you’ve got to do this if you love music and fancy yourself an artist at all. Back in 1997 I attended Ceolas in South Uist. Flew from California with a good mate of mine and learned from Hamish Moore, amoung others. It was great! Recently ordered a set of Small Pipes from Hamish…
In the pic I am speaking with Hamish in South Uist. Alistair Mcdonald is in the background.

I’m SOO glad to see I’m not the only one that wants to do this! OK, there are just 3 others listed in this category, so it’s not like the most popular hobby one can take up, but I’m glad to see that I’m not alone in my bizarre fascination with this instrument (...of torture, my boyfriend says!)

Midi bagpipes. I saw a few links today but my browser crashed before I could take note of them.
Phwoar. Maybe that’s the way to go.

Long ago I thought that it would be amazing to learn to play the bagpipes. I started taking lessons a couple of years ago. I was in university at the time and was unable to devote the proper amount of time to the instrument. Now that my studies are done I would like to start again.
