I have this goal in my mind . . . I started working on my MBA in the late 90s and work got in the way. Now days I know I can do this but I have to take the baby steps that will lead me to graduate school for my Masters in Library Science. First stop, my local library for GRE practice testing!

This is somewhat on hold now with my distraction of Mom’s surgery, but I did check out a few books on studying for the GRE’s from the library and I’m working on that.

YEAH! Finally!! I got to talk to the Dean on Friday. I am accepted into the FNP program. I start in Winter 2008, a little bit earlier than I thought (later than what I wanted…but I am NOT complaining!)I’m going to have a lighter load in the beginning because I’ve taken quite a few classes already. But I do have to audit a few others. All I know is that I do not have to take Pharmacology again, THANK GOD! I’ll be happy to review, of course but glad I don’t have to go through that class again. I am happy, happy, happy!!! Can’t wait to start!!!!

Called again today, left another message. I’m afraid this one is going to have to wait until next year. It looks as if there’s no room this late in the game…so I am trying to come to terms with the fact that I’ll have to wait another year and a half to go back. In the meantime…I am considering some new job options, probably teaching!!!!

I sent one letter and discussed it with the Dean. She wants me to send another letter to a similar program so that I can possibly start earlier. The thing is that that program (family practice)is what I wanted to do originally but since I had been accepted for acute care I thought I had to stick with it. I really would rather not. I am more inclined towards health promotion and disease prevention than acute care. And this view and my goals have become so much clearer during my time away from school…so I guess there was a reason for that break!!! :)
I hope to hear from them soon. If I cannot start this year…I’ll be very disappointed but at least I’ll have an answer to decide what to do next (change schools, take summer classes to make it easier later on, postpone school while we have kids?, dont know!)

OK, so I didn’t get a chance to start this Spring, and probably not in the Summer either. I contacted Financial Aid, they haven’t answered back but forwarded my letter to the Dean. Apparently the assistant had forgotten to let me know about a letter of intent I needed to write to add to my old file. Basically I needed to explain what I’ve been doing for the past 3 years and why do I want to go back. Well, I had been putting off writing this letter as it felt as a whole bunch of excuses. Then I realized it just sounds like that to me…but really, it’s up to me when I return to school right? and now my circumstances allow for a better chance at success than before. I am a lot more stable financially now. And it’s good to have the support of my husband. It was so hard to do it all by myself, no family, no boyfriend or husband, yikes! so, I am getting all set up for success this time around. Can’t wait! I really can’t wait!!!!!!!! The letter is done, just have to send it. yay

I contacted the school again, my file is under review. I hope they’ll answer me soon. I’ll be able to start FT for sure in September but I was hoping to take some classes during the Spring and Summer terms and catch up with the rest of the class. I keep praying for this. Next thing to do is to contact Financial Aid.

I did it finally! I registered, jumped through hoops to get everything in place, even ordered a parking tag! I made it through my first 2 classes and I am so excited about my career opportunities when I finish! YEAH!
