I thought that one I’ve done this for six months, I can mark it done and still have great new recipes. I’ve actually been doing it at least twice a month, but closer to three! I am posting pictures of my new creations on my Facebook page as well.
How to try a new recipe once a month
How I did it: I have more than a dozen recipe websites bookmarked, including a bunch that let you enter in ingredients to work with, and another that sends me suggested meal plans every week. It's easier than scrambling to throw something together at the last minute!

I found a really good site for recipes..wonderful pictures to get you mouth watering. It always helps me to see what it will look like before I make it. The site is called the Food Gawker. I have found a lot of good recipes on it and will be trying some of them out.
Although not all the new recipe attempts are captured in my entries here, I’ve been in this habit of frequently trying new recipes for about a year and a half now. I think that’s good enough to call this goal complete! With a new Cooking Light issue coming every month, I don’t fear that I’ll slip back into a cooking rut anytime soon.
Tried a baked tilapia with spinach, tomatoes, and onions in the new quest to eat fish at least twice a week. Also tried a chicken and orzo salad with goat cheese that turned out to be wonderful.
This was a really good recipe and will be on our friday night pizza menu.
Made balsamic-glazed tuna and fresh blackberry cobbler tonight for dinner. My husband did not drench dinner in Tabasco sauce. I think that’s a victory!
for this to be a recipe for a main course, but today’s new recipe was a yellow cake. Looks good so far – I have done the crumb coat and it’s in the fridge. I think the man is going to like it and that is what counts here.
Continuing with the Cooking Light trend, tried a curried short ribs recipe from their latest issue. A little lacking in curry flavor, but still delicious. Also tried a Moroccan chick pea chili that was nicely spicy and had good vegetable content.
Made them today for lunch. Or should I say assembled them. A friend had given me the sauce, some chicken, and some other ingredients, and I just had to fry the tortillas which I already had in the freezer. They were delicious! Next time I’ll have to make the sauce myself, but I think it’s fairly quick and easy.
I also made fish chowder last night, but it’s not a new recipe so it doesn’t really count. Trying to remember if I’ve made something new in January…
