How I did it: In Hawaii, hiked the Na Pali Trail on Kauai, with my wife. I hung my shirt on my backpack belt to make a sort of loincloth.
In Idaho, hiked to a hotspring, about 2 miles, nude, and from a different hotspring, about 4 miles, nude; both times with my wife.
In California, hiked to and from a hotspring, nude. Again, with my wife.
In Washington, hiked in the North Cascades nude, once with my wife, the other time, solo.
Lessons & tips: Try not to offend other people - try a trail with only one entrance / exit and go when there are no other cars at the trailhead - or pick a trail (e.g. to a hotspring) where people will be expecting nudity.
