As much as I would like to sink my teeth into this, I am just not motivated enough to go out in the evenings and spend more time away from my man. I am already spending too much of my waking time without him. Life, to me, is not primarily about work. So, to speak with an old Irish expression: I just can’t be arsed.

I speak a little French 3 years ago

I learned French in school for 5 years, but in between I spent a year in the US and since have not been in France for a longer period. During my childhood, I spent an average of 7 weeks a year in France. So I picked up the sound and feel of the language at a young age.
Now in my job I need to speak French every day, and it feels really intimidating to know that my pronounciation is pretty good, but my vocabulary is very small, and any form of correct verb conjugation is beyond me these days. The people I talk to hear my fast answer and then mostly assume that I understand them, but they speak too fast and I am not familiar with the words they use.
I say things in the style of “You pushing button then wait green ligh on?” when I’m trying to explain to French shop staff over the phone how to reboot their router, computer etc.
So my boss OKed me taking a French class to brush up and get corrected effectively, paid by the company. This would be the first time in 14 years that I would get French tutoring. I’ll try to find something in Amsterdam in the evenings.
