It’s not good for me, let’s be honest you can use to get rid of rust, clean chrome an toilets … Not good for the inside of my body 15 months ago
When I was younger, I would often treat myself to a soda from the gas station with my allowance. When I moved out on my own, and got married, I became an avid drinker of Coca-Cola. In fact, I was a Coke addict. I couldn’t go a day without drinking a coke. Most days I would have three or more cans of Coke. I drank nothing else.
A few years ago, I had heard on the radio that if you drink one can of Coke a day for a year, you’ll gain about 5 pounds in the year(give or take, depending on your metabolism). I told myself,”Self, you need to stop drinking Coke. It’s making you gain weight. Sure, you’re not fat, but if you keep drinking Coke, you will become fat. Besides, it’s really doing a number on your teeth.”
I struggled with quitting. I tried to remember back, to when I was younger. My mom never kept coke in the house(aside from the occasional 2 liter we’d get with pizza). So, what did I drink back then? To tell the truth… I couldn’t remember.
It took me another few years to finally say,”Enough is enough!” I stopped buying 12 and 24-packs of coke, and bought a water filter. Now, instead of reaching for a can, I grab a glass and fill it up with water. At first, I suffered from headaches and terrible withdrawals… but now I feel so much better for doing it.
Sure, when I go out to eat I’ll get a Coke to drink with my meal, so I guess you can say I haven’t stopped drinking Coke completely, but it’s definitely a step in the right direction. I go for days, sometimes weeks at a time without a sip of the soda. That’s good enough for me. 23 months ago
