the book was so much better in describing what went on … but some of the visuals … priceless…

Good casting and the plot moves along well. Not as good as the books but then nothing ever could be.
I read the books repeatedly in high school and college, and I’ve hunted down the radio plays, the albums, the scripts, and even the books on tape. I was really looking forward to the movie, and I was saddened when Douglas Adams died before the project was finished.
Unfortunately the movie just didn’t measure up; it was too Hollywood, too formulaic, and it didn’t leave room for three (or four or five) movies the way I was hoping it would.
The idea of concentrate so many books, with their characters and ideas in a single film is just crazy, but i think that the film is really pretty and it works so well as an introduction for people that have never read D.A. books.
