I can even get free rope, so why not?

indie124 is figuring stuff out.
i Did it, but then it fell down a few weeks later. I did get some good use out of it though. Im sure that if I had put more effort into it, I would have said worth doing.

It’s so satisfying knowing that I made it by myself. Plus it’s comfortable.
I ran across these instructions for making a cloth hammock:

...and suddenly could think of nothing else. I had to do it! So this weekend I went through my fabric stash and found a queen sized flannel sheet that I folded in half and sewed up into the most wonderful hammock. Note to self… don’t put the seam down the middle, move it to one side or the other. I also tried putting thick dowel rods through the casings, but the shape didn’t work quite right as the center was pulled taught and the edges slouched too much.
It rained most of the weekend and I wasn’t able to hang up the hammock outside, but I took Monday off from work (to get my car brakes fixed) and spent all Monday morning swinging in my hammock, reading, knitting, and enjoying the sound of the birds and wind in the trees.
I might like to try making another one with two panels of 45” wide, colorful, cotton fabric… so the two seams would be on the edges… lots of possibilities.
