I really want to take a ceramic’s class. Where is a good place?
How to take a ceramics class
How I did it: I did some ceramics in high school but I was feeling the urge to pick in up again after 2 years of not touching clay... so I contacted my local community college and lucky enough for me, they were just getting ready to start a new classes in a few weeks and they were a ceramics for adults class so I signed up and I just had my first class this past Wednesday and I LOVED IT!!
Lessons & tips: Just do it.

theres a place for only $260 that i wanna take the class….
specifically, take a ceramics class and use the opportunity to make a piggy bank in the shape of a clock. it should be hollow but strong, with a slot that accepts coins. i will fill it with my mounds of change and then one day, smash it open.
i am stealing this idea from atypk’s ‘time is money’. their version costs $75, but by making it myself in ceramics class i am cleverly reducing the price to $300+
I suck. good lord do I suck. It is a LOT of fun, the first class was more or less open studio and I think i’m going to like it. But man, par for the course, I can’t do anything neat. I’m a messy little eater, I throw my clothes as I take them off and I was wearing clay from head to toe. In my hair, on my face, on my arms, shoes, leggings, dress. . . this guy in the elevator was smirking at me, and I decided whatever, and looked him in the face with my best naive look and go ‘What, do I have something on my face?”
The class I want to take Thursday nights, 7-10pm opens up for sale on April 19th. I don’t think it starts until May, but I’m excited. It will give me something good to do during the week that isn’t going out and spending money and I believe will also give me access to the open studio.
So…I’m getting closer to this one…
I’ve had an artsy urge within me for the last, oh, four or five months, I’d say. I really wanted to take a ceramics course up at school but unfortunately, the only classes they offer are intended for art majors (BOO!). So for now, I’m looking for a studio or possibly a junior college class I could take during the summer. I keep forgetting, so I’m going to look up Mesa’s classes right now!
Im doing this right now. My goal is to make functional simple designs with pretty colour and pattern.
