I’ve been working on this goal for a few months now. I’ve got a list of books ‘to-read’ on the booksite I’m a member of.
Already read so far- 1984
- Brave New World
- Fahrenheit 451
- Catch-22
- Pride and Prejudice
- Phantom of the Opera
- The Picture of Dorian Gray
- The Catcher in the Rye
- War of the Worlds
- The Invisible Man
- The Princess Bride
- The Count of Monte Cristo (the copy was abridged, so must read the full version)
- Lord of the Flies (still to finish)
Still loads to go!

I was very skeptical when I first started doing this but now I really enjoy it. My favourite so far is probably To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, it was excellent, but I couldn’t really get into In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. I really want to read Anna Karenina too but it’s so long! I’ll try this summer, though.

It has gotten to the point where I can’t read anything other than classic books. I really am enjoying reading Les Miserables by Victor Hugo, even though I haven’t finished it. I loved Pride and Prejudiced by Jane Austen and The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath. I also loved the other ones I read, except for Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. I couldn’t relate to the main character at all.
